A double dose of self-confidence
I can say without hesitation that I would never have considered putting in the miles I did without the knowledge, skills, and confidence I learned from CyclingSavvy.

We will be offering a 3 hour bike handling class on Saturday morning (6/26/10) from 8:30 – 11:30 in Downtown Orlando.
The key to confident cycling lies in your powers of observation. The safest and most competent traffic cyclists are not necessarily bold or fast. They are observant. They identify patterns in the chaos and they take advantage of them.
A special class was held in may for local advocates, planners and others working to promote alternative transportation.
The on-bike sessions of our first pilot course were held November 14, 2009.
This is a very easy maneuver. It does not require speed. It requires the ability to ride in a straight line, take a hand off the handlebars to signal and maintain control of the bike while looking over your shoulder.
It will change the way you think about bike riding and open up new possibilities for you and your bike.
I feel a lot more confident about my bike-handling skills after the class.
The epiphany which transforms us into confident cyclists is grasping the simple (albeit counter-intuitive) fact that we have control of our environment. That control comes from predictability, communication and (believe it or not) self-image.
Mindful bicycling requires calm situation awareness. Situation awareness is the perception of environmental elements within a volume of time and space, the comprehension of their meaning, and the projection of their status in the near future.
