As part of Bulls Walk and Bike Week, this course is being offered at the University of South Florida. We are offering a FREE Truth and Techniques classroom session on Friday, September 7th at 5pm at the Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR). This session is limited to 25 participants so sign up quickly.
You have no doubt experienced parking at USF and know what it’s like to drive around for 20 minutes looking for a spot. Most students live within 4 miles of the University, a distance that you can travel in nearly the same time by bike as by car. Save your time and money, and get some exercise at the same time, by learning to confidently drive your bike around USF.
You will learn strategies for safe, stress-free integrated cycling and come away with the tools to read and problem-solve any new traffic situation or road configuration.
Truth & Techniques of Traffic Cycling (FREE classroom session) 5 – 8PM on Friday, September 7.
Train Your Bike (bike handling session) 9AM – Noon on Saturday, September 8.
Tour of the City (tour session) will begin from our lunch break location (TBD) 1 – 4:30PM Saturday, September 8. (completion of other two sessions is required to take this one).
Classroom location will be at Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) located at USF Tampa Campus on .
For those wanting single sessions, or to take the course in 3-hour increments, you can sign up for Truth & Techniques or Train Your Bike. Individual sessions are $30 each. A package (all 3 sessions) can be purchased for $60. Package price is valid even if you take the courses on different dates.

Hi Tim,
I live in St. Pete near downtown and I work at USF Tampa. I have been thinking about biking to work. Do you have a favorite/safe route from after the Gandy? Not sure where your place of employ is, but I am not sure about downtown and all things inbetween in Tampa.

Hi Jennifer,
If you work at USF, then you definitely need to sign up for our September class! You will learn valuable skills that will help you plan a bike route between two points – anywhere, anytime.
Rather than take up a lot of space here, look for an email from me discussing my route to work and how you might get to USF from downtown.

Is this course only available to USF students and Faculty or open to the general public too? Thanks.

Andrew,
At this time the class is open only to students, staff, and faculty of USF, including Moffit Cancer Center. If that changes, I’ll email you and post it here.
There are tentative plans for a class in the Tampa area in November. When those plans are finalized, I’ll let you know and also post it here.
