It’s almost Spring! It’s easy to go anywhere by bike! We’ll show you how. Thanks to the generous support of Great Rivers Greenway, the last winter session of CyclingSavvy is being offered from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 9, at Cafe Ventana, 3919 West Pine Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63108.
“The classes provide good information,” said GRG deputy director Todd Antoine. “We appreciate your efforts to help citizens ride safely and confidently.”
In ”Truth & Techniques of Traffic Cycling,“ learn strategies for safe, stress-free, integrated cycling. Come away with the tools to read or problem-solve any new traffic situation or road configuration. This session will change the way you think about bicycling.
Bicycles are not needed. However, there is ample parking for both bicycles and autos at Cafe Ventana.
“Truth & Techniques of Traffic Cycling” is free to all adults of driving age, but registration is requested. When you register, your full commitment is requested. If you find that you cannot attend, please let us know as soon as possible. Thanks!

This class was so enlightening! I thought I knew how to ride defensively in the street, but I learned so much at cycling savvy. I feel so much more confident sharing the road with cars and trucks since attending this class! I feel what I learned here will keep me safe when commuting on my bike.
Thanks so much!

This class was enlightening and stimulating. Now as I drive my car I see how I can be a better cyclist and a better car driver. The class went by quickly and the information presented gave many scenarios on the road and how to maneuver easily with the motor vehicles. I have more confidence as a cyclist now. This was well worth my time. Thanks!

An excellent, well-organized presentation with amazing on-the-road videos demonstrating the value of the suggested cycling strategies. Although I have many years of intermittent cycle commuting, some situations I’ve encountered repeatedly created a sense of helpless vulnerability; the course addressed these and provided sound advice on resolving them. Brava Karen!!

Thank you for your kind words, Chuck! However, the lion’s share of credit is due to the strength of the curriculum. It simply is my good fortune to find it and be able to share it

What you’re doing is great, Karen. Those interested in this subject may also find the following new blog titled “Bicycling Made Simple: Gerry Noll Shows How” at thinkbicyclingblog.wordpress.com instructive. It features another local CyclingSavvy Instructor demonstrating how easy it is to use a bicycle instead of a car for local trips, once you’ve learned the basic principles of safe cycling. And almost anyone can do so.

Karen, I forgot to add an exclamation point after my first sentence. It should read: “What you’re doing is great, Karen!”

Martin, your video is on-the-road affirmation of what we know to be true: With a few simple-to-learn skills, cyclists can and do receive full lane passes and courteous respect from motorists, even on “big and scary” roads. Thank you for your good work, and for your support of CyclingSavvy!

Karen, I’ve recommended your course to a neighbor of mine, Val, who took a bike ed. course of mine years ago but is still somewhat intimidated by motorists. (Some have honked at her aggressively while riding on local major roads.) She thinks her daughter, Rachel, might also be interested, so I’m alerting her too. I hope they both attend.

I finally had a schedule that allowed me to attend the Saturday February 16 Truth &Techniques session. Matthew and Melissa are great instructors and I found great value in the content. It may be the only time I’ve ever winced at animations. I am looking forward to the upcoming Train Your Bike and Tour sessions. A few from my bike group will be in the March session and are also interested in becoming CSIs for the Springfield Area. My goal is to get Andy some help to bring this fantastic program to Springfield and Southwest Missouri.
Thank you to Matthew and Melissa for your presentation and to Great River Greenway and The Ethical Society of St Louis for your support.
