Thanks to the generous support and effort of Commute Smart Seacost,Seacoast Area Bicycle Routes, and the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth and Kittery area bicyclists now will have an opportunity to experience CyclingSavvy, the empowering and fun cycling confidence course.
Just in time for National Bike to Work Week (May 12-16), bicyclists can choose from two different options:
Full 3-Part Course
The full CyclingSavvy course consists of:
- Truths and Techniques of Traffic Cycling: In this 3-hour classroom session, students learn about the basic rules of movement, crash causes and avoidance, and strategies to feel more confident “sharing the road”.
- Train Your Bike: This 3-hour on-bike course takes place in a parking lot, and teaches you and your bike how to get along smoothly with each other.
- Tour of Portsmouth/Kittery: This 3 & 1/2 hour bike ride will incorporate features of both towns, focusing on some of the trickier places you may need to get through in your daily travels by bike.
The full course will be offered starting with the classroom session on Friday evening, May 9, and continuing all day Saturday, May 10, with Train Your Bike in the morning, ride to lunch, then the Tour in the afternoon. You are also welcome to join us for an optional after-party (a.k.a. supper) at an establishment to be determined at the time.
MAXIMUM 12 PEOPLE!
