Here is the March – August Schedule:

The schedule is all A la Carte with individual sessions at $30/module, or you may sign up for the full course for $75 and select module dates most convenient to you.

Please note: The morning sessions are all on Saturdays, the evening sessions are on Fridays

Tour of Jacksonville (ToJ) - The tour begins and ends in the Miramar Shopping Center parking lot, 4460 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32207. Attendees must have previously completed both TYB and T&TTC in order to take the tour.

You will teach your bike to behave:

  • As you start and stop correctly
  • Stop without putting a foot down
  • Maneuver with precision at low speeds
  • Communicate with the drivers behind you
  • Race sloooowly

You will teach your bike to be frisky at high speed:

  • Use your gears efficiently to accelerate
  • Avoid obstacles with the rock dodge
  • Dance through a slalom course
  • Corner with precision

You will teach your bike to get you out of trouble

  • Snap turn 90° in a 4ft radius
  • Stop on a dime ~ without going over the handlebars

The summer schedule for Train Your Bike sessions in Jacksonville:

  • Saturday, April 9 (9-noon)
  • Saturday, May 21 (9-noon)
  • Saturday, June 11 (8-11)

Tour of Jacksonville is tentatively planned for April (completion of both the above modules is a prerequisite).

This past weekend (Jan 21-23) Mighk and I trained the first class of CyclingSavvy Instructors (CSIs). We had five from Orlando, three from Jacksonville, one from West Palm Beach and one from Ft Myers.

The course was demanding. In addition to the 20 hours of training, the students studied an extensive reading list on topics ranging from teaching methodology to AASHTO standards for bike facility design. They also did some complex problem-solving exercises to prepare them for creating and teaching the unique CyclingSavvy Road Tour. These people know their stuff!

We learned a lot, too!
