I’ve been riding my bike only since 2006. I love riding my bike every day everywhere. I want to teach CyclingSavvy classes so you can ride your bike everywhere. Riding a bike using the CyclingSavvy skills and strategies empowers most people to ride whereever they want to go. I founded Charlotte Spokes People to get more people riding their bikes. I’m also the Charlotte Director for Bike Benefits, and the organizer and leader of the Plaza Midwood Tuesday Night Ride. Come ride with me. If the date/day/times don’t work, please let me know a date that works for you. I teach about once a month and will schedule courses as needed.
The CyclingSavvy Tour of Charlotte is an experiential on-road session where you put the strategies and bike handling skills learned earlier into practice. We will travel as a group, stopping to survey and discuss each exercise location. After observing the feature, discussing the traffic dynamics and the best strategies for safe and easy passage, participants ride through individually and regroup at a nearby location. IMPORTANT: prior completion of both, Truth and Techniques and Train Your Bike sessions are REQUIRED for participation in the tour.
Train your Bike is a bike handling skills class taught in a parking lot. You will practice basic skills needed for street riding, as well as emergency maneuvers among other useful skills.
This virtual classroom session will show you how to prevent the most common types of crashes — even those caused by motorist errors. This class brings you up to date on the real risks of cycling and teaching you important strategies to minimize these risks. Pam uses illustrations, animations and video to make it fun, engaging, and easy to understand. Attendees are able to interact with our certified instructor to ask questions and receive feedback.
CyclingSavvy is a program of the American Bicycling Education Association. Our mission is to provide programs and resources for the education of bicyclists as drivers of vehicles, and bicycling-related education for traffic engineers, transportation planners, law enforcement professionals, educators, and the general public.
