John Allen
CyclingSavvy Instructor(5 Years)
I teach so that other people can experience the freedom which I know as a cyclist. I can show you how to ride in safety and with confidence, through the Bicycling Street Smarts booklet or in a CyclingSavvy course.
I live in eastern Massachusetts and teach here, also online and traveling to work with other instructors. I have ridden extensively in other cities all around the USA and in Canada.
I ride for transportation in everyday clothes. I also ride in in a bicycling jersey and shorts with a recreational bicycle club, the Charles River Wheelers, and on overnight tours. I am the author of the booklet Bicycling Street Smarts. As technical writer and editor at sheldonbrown.com, I write about bicycle customization and maintenance.
I am currently chair of the Program Committee of the American Bicycling Education Association, the parent organization of the CyclingSavvy program, and one of a team of editors of the Savvy Cyclist blog.
Please feel free to check out any of the links above, get in touch with me about a course, or ask any bicycling question which you may have. I especially can help with questions about gearing including internal-gear hubs, parts compatibility and bicycle setup. I teach so that other people can experience the freedom which I know as a cyclist.
