It’s difficult to fully understand how CyclingSavvy works before you a) experience the course and b) realize how much our perceptions, beliefs, and attitudes affect our behavior and our interactions with others on the roads.
The transportation environment includes not just built infrastructure, but also public perceptions of cyclists, pedestrians and the role these groups play in our communities. Bruce Lierman’s strongest interests are in maintaining cyclist and pedestrian access to our public thoroughfares, and improved safety and community relations through education about the meaning of shared use – and shared responsibility – in the roadways.
In addition to being a CyclingSavvy Instructor, Bruce is a retired Motorcycle Safety Foundation Ridercoach, and served in the USAF as a flight instructor. He has taught The Ecology of Alternate Transportation and workplace communications as an adjunct instructor at the Community College of Vermont Bennington campus.
Bruce is a retired systems analyst, project manager and knowledge engineer who lives in southwestern Vermont. He serves on the local regional planning commission as Commissioner-at-large for Transportation, and as Vice President of the Board of the American Bicyclist Education Association, the developers and managers of the CyclingSavvy program.
